Privacy policy
Last updated: 28 September 2026
Gable Health is a business name of August Gable (ABN 13 229 050 512). This policy explains how I handle your personal and health information. I follow the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (NSW), and the Psychology Board of Australia’s Code of conduct.
What I collect
I collect information that’s needed to provide you with psychological services. This includes your name, contact details, date of birth, Medicare details, referral information, and emergency contact. It also includes health information that you share during your sessions or that your referrer provides.
How I collect it
I usually collect information directly from you, by email, through intake forms, or during your sessions. With your consent, I may also receive it from your referring practitioner or other health professionals.
Why I collect it and how I use it
I use your information to assess you, provide treatment, keep clinical records, communicate with your referrer as needed for your care, process fees and Medicare claims, and meet my legal and professional obligations.
When I may disclose it
I don’t share your information without your consent, except where the law permits or requires it. Examples include a serious threat to someone’s life, health or safety, a court order or subpoena, or mandatory reporting obligations. With your consent, I send reports to your referring practitioner as Medicare requires. If you’re seeing me under a NSW workers compensation claim, I share information with your insurer and nominated treating doctor as the scheme requires (for example, treatment requests, progress reports and invoices). I’ll discuss this with you before we start.
Storage and security
Clinical records are stored electronically using Halaxy, which stores data in Australia. Email and telehealth (Microsoft Teams) are provided through Microsoft 365, with data stored in Australia. I take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Those steps include multi-factor authentication and access controls. I keep records for as long as the law requires, then destroy them securely.
Email and telehealth
Email isn’t a fully secure way to communicate, so please avoid sending sensitive health information by email. Telehealth sessions are held on Microsoft Teams, and I don’t record them.
Young people under 18
If you’re under 18, I’ll explain at the start how your information is handled, including what a parent or guardian may or may not be told. Where a young person has enough understanding to make their own decisions about their care, I respect their right to confidentiality within the limits of the law. Those limits include the need to protect someone’s safety.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask to see or correct the information I hold about you. Send your request to contact@gablehealth.com.au. I’ll respond within 30 days. In limited circumstances the law allows me to refuse access, and if that happens I’ll explain why.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how your information has been handled, please contact me first so I can try to resolve it. If you aren’t satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) or the NSW Information and Privacy Commission (ipc.nsw.gov.au).
